Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura, the second largest of the Canary Islands, sits just 100km from the coast of Africa, and is blessed with a warm, dry climate all year round, with the annual temperature averaging out at a glorious 20 degrees. Relatively undiscovered, Fuerteventura boasts some of the best beaches in the Canaries, with over 150 spread out over its’ 340km of coastline, and the island is a fascinating mix of endless white sands, volcanic landscapes and palm trees. Although Fuerteventura attracts those in search of a slow pace and idyllic beaches to unwind on, the island is one of the best places in the world for windsurfing.

Holidays in Fuerteventura

The atmosphere on Fuerteventura is fairly peaceful, and the nightlife is very low-key, with the exception of Corralejo with its’ English bars and late-night hotspots. Most resorts on the island have bars playing live music, and the entertainment, including cabarets and folk dancing, is centred around the hotels. All types of international food can be found on Fuerteventura, from Mexican to Greek, and local specialties, including wonderful fresh fish, can be sampled in the many Spanish and Canarian restaurants. As mentioned, Fuerteventura is a haven for watersports, with windsurfing hugely popular, especially along the east coast, and scuba-diving, water-skiing, and surfing are all available.
